A simple, bright cocktail featuring fresh lime juice and pomegranate juice for a lively, refreshing margarita perfect for warm weather and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) tequila blanco (100% agave)
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) pomegranate juice
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • ½ ounce (15 ml) simple syrup
  • Salt for rimming the glass
  • Pomegranate seeds for garnish
  • Lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a margarita or rocks glass. Dip the rim into a plate of coarse salt to coat evenly. Set aside.
  2. Squeeze about 1 ounce (30 ml) of fresh lime juice using a citrus juicer or by hand. Strain if desired to remove pulp.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, add 2 ounces (60 ml) tequila blanco, 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice, 2 ounces (60 ml) pomegranate juice, 1 ounce (30 ml) orange liqueur, and ½ ounce (15 ml) simple syrup.
  4. Fill the shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  5. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the shaker feels cold and frosty.
  6. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  7. Garnish with a few pomegranate seeds and a lime wedge on the rim.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Adjust simple syrup to taste to balance sweetness. Salt the rim lightly for best contrast. Shake vigorously to chill and blend flavors. Fresh ice cubes are recommended to avoid dilution.
