A simple and quick recipe for creamy, rich brigadeiro chocolate truffles using just three ingredients, perfect for beginners and last-minute treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (14 oz / 395 g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup (25 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) unsalted butter
  • Optional: chocolate sprinkles or shredded coconut for rolling
  • Optional: a pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and unsalted butter.
  2. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula to prevent sticking.
  3. Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture thickens and starts to pull away from the bottom of the pan, about 10-15 minutes.
  4. Pour the mixture onto a plate or shallow dish and let it cool to room temperature.
  5. Once cooled, use spoons or a melon baller to scoop out portions and roll them into small balls with your hands.
  6. Roll the balls in chocolate sprinkles or shredded coconut if desired.
  7. Place the finished truffles on a tray or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to set.

Notes

Cook the condensed milk mixture slowly and stir constantly to avoid burning. Let the mixture cool completely before shaping the truffles. For a dairy-free version, use vegan butter and sweetened condensed coconut milk. Rolling truffles in freeze-dried raspberries or chopped nuts adds a nice twist.
