This easy spooky white chocolate popcorn mix is a quick 5-minute treat perfect for Halloween. It combines crunchy popcorn, sweet white chocolate, and festive mix-ins like pretzels and candy corn for an irresistible salty-sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels, or one standard bag of microwave popcorn, popped and unbuttered)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (optional)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate bars
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 cup pretzel sticks or mini pretzels, broken into pieces
  • 1/2 cup candy corn or candy pumpkins
  • 1/4 cup Halloween-themed sprinkles
  • 1/2 cup roasted salted peanuts or almonds (optional)
  • Flaky sea salt, for finishing

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn. If using kernels, pop them however you normally do. Spread the popped popcorn on a prepared baking sheet and pick out any unpopped kernels. Drizzle the melted butter over the popcorn and toss gently to coat.
  2. Prep your mix-ins. Break the pretzels into bite-sized pieces. Measure out the candy corn, sprinkles, and nuts if using. Have everything ready.
  3. Melt the white chocolate. Place the white chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth and fully melted (about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes total).
  4. Drizzle the chocolate. Using a spatula or spoon, drizzle the melted white chocolate over the popcorn on the baking sheet. Toss gently to coat, leaving some bare spots and some chocolatey clusters.
  5. Add the mix-ins. Sprinkle the pretzel pieces, candy corn, and nuts over the chocolate-coated popcorn. Toss gently once more. Then scatter the Halloween sprinkles over the top.
  6. Let it set. Spread the popcorn mix into an even layer on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with a pinch of flaky sea salt. Let sit at room temperature until the white chocolate is completely set, about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  7. Break it up. Once the chocolate is set, break the popcorn mix into clusters of various sizes.

Notes

Use plain or lightly salted popcorn to avoid soggy results. Melt white chocolate slowly to prevent seizing. Work quickly once chocolate is melted as it sets fast. For best texture, serve within 24 hours. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
