easy mummy hot dogs - featured image

These easy mummy hot dogs are a quick and fun Halloween treat made with crescent roll dough, hot dogs, and mustard eyes. Ready in about 20 minutes, they’re perfect for parties, school events, or a spooky weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 hot dogs
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Optional: 8 small pretzel sticks
  • Optional: Cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough. If using standard triangles, press the seams together to form a single rectangle. If using crescent dough sheets, proceed directly.
  3. Cut the dough lengthwise into thin strips, about ½ inch wide (8-10 strips per hot dog).
  4. Wrap each hot dog with a dough strip, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Overlap the strips slightly. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Brush each wrapped hot dog lightly with melted butter.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is light golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool for about 1 minute. Use a toothpick or squeeze bottle to add two small dots of mustard for eyes.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, don’t overbake; the dough should be golden, not brown. Let the mummies cool slightly before adding mustard eyes to prevent melting. You can wrap the hot dogs in dough up to a day ahead and refrigerate; brush with butter and bake just before serving. For a cheesy version, slice the hot dog lengthwise and stuff with cheese before wrapping.
