These crispy mummy hot dog bites are a quick and easy Halloween snack made with hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll strips, baked until golden, and finished with mustard eyes. Perfect for parties and guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8-count) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Mustard for the eyes
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional)
  • Ketchup or ranch dressing for dipping (optional)
  • Pretzel sticks (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Let the crescent roll dough sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes.
  2. Cut each hot dog into three equal pieces (about 2 inches each). You should have 24 pieces total.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 thin strips to get 24 strips total.
  4. Wrap one strip of dough around each hot dog piece, starting at one end and working to the other, leaving a small gap in the middle for the face. Do not wrap too tightly.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dog pieces on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart. Brush each mummy generously with melted butter.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and puffed. Check after 10 minutes to avoid burning.
  7. Let the mummies cool on the baking sheet for about 2 minutes. Use a toothpick to dab two small dots of mustard on each mummy for eyes.
  8. Serve immediately with ketchup or ranch for dipping.

Notes

For best results, do not overwrap the hot dogs; leave a little breathing room. Let the dough sit at room temperature for 5-7 minutes before using to prevent tearing. Use parchment paper for easy cleanup. Watch the oven closely after 10 minutes to avoid burning. For defined eyes, use a toothpick to dab mustard. To freeze, assemble mummies on a baking sheet, freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen, adding 2-3 minutes to cooking time.
