Instructions

  1. Brown the butter: In a heavy-bottomed skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter, stirring frequently until it foams and turns golden brown with a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and pour into a heatproof bowl to cool slightly.
  2. Mix sugars and eggs: In a large bowl, combine granulated sugar and brown sugar. Add the slightly cooled brown butter and mix until combined. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Combine dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
