A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip with a festive spiderweb topping, perfect for game day, Halloween parties, or any gathering. This quick and easy recipe delivers bold flavor and a fun presentation that will impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cooked, shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives or green onions (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Soften the cream cheese if needed (microwave for 15-20 seconds).
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened 16 oz cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and 1/2 cup cheddar cheese. Mix until well combined and creamy.
  4. Spread the mixture evenly into a greased 9-inch pie plate or small baking dish.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes until the edges start to bubble.
  6. While baking, make the spiderweb topping: mix together 1/2 cup sour cream, 2 tablespoons softened cream cheese, and 1 tablespoon milk until smooth. Spoon into a piping bag or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off.
  7. Remove the dip from the oven. Pipe a spiral of the sour cream mixture from the center to the edges. Use a toothpick or knife to drag lines from the center outward to create a web pattern.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar and 1/2 cup mozzarella over the top, avoiding the spiderweb lines if desired.
  9. Bake for another 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and the dip is hot and bubbly.
  10. Let cool for 2-3 minutes, then garnish with chives or green onions and sesame seeds if using. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or crusty bread.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat cream cheese and let it come to room temperature. If making ahead, assemble the dip base (without spiderweb topping) up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerate; add 5-10 minutes to the first bake time. The spiderweb pattern will mostly disappear upon reheating, but the flavor remains.
