Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces aged cheddar, sliced into thin wedges
  • 8 ounces brie, whole wheel
  • 4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled or in wedges
  • 4 ounces goat cheese, log or crumbled
  • 6 ounces prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • 6 ounces salami (Genoa), sliced into thin rounds
  • 4 ounces soppressata, sliced
  • 810 fresh figs, halved or quartered
  • 4 ounces honeycomb, cut into chunks
  • 4 ounces dried apricots
  • 68 Medjool dates, pitted and halved
  • 1 apple (Honeycrisp or Fuji), thinly sliced
  • ยฝ cup pomegranate seeds
  • ยฝ cup toasted walnuts
  • ยฝ cup roasted almonds
  • ยฝ cup pecans (candied or plain)
  • ยผ cup fig jam
  • 2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
  • ยฝ cup mixed olives
  • ยผ cup cornichons
  • 1 baguette, sliced into thin rounds and toasted
  • 1 box water crackers or rosemary crackers (e.g., Raincoast Crisps)
  • 46 breadsticks

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry all fruits. Halve or quarter fresh figs (leave some whole for visual interest). Slice apple thinly and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning. Pit and halve Medjool dates. Slice baguette into thin rounds and toast lightly if desired. Arrange all ingredients in separate bowls.
  2. Place small bowls of fig jam, whole grain mustard, and olives on the board in a triangle pattern. Add cheeses: place brie wheel whole, arrange cheddar wedges in a fan shape, and crumble blue cheese and goat cheese in separate piles, leaving space between each.
  3. Fold prosciutto slices into loose ribbons and place on board. Arrange salami and soppressata slices in overlapping rows or fan shapes, creating ‘rivers’ of meat between cheese and fruit piles.
  4. Place honeycomb chunks in a prominent spot (near brie is ideal). Arrange fresh figs in clusters around the board, alternating with dried apricots and dates. Scatter pomegranate seeds like jewels. Place apple slices in a fan shape near the edge.
  5. Sprinkle toasted walnuts, roasted almonds, and pecans in small piles around the board, creating pockets of crunch.
  6. Arrange baguette slices, crackers, and breadsticks in remaining empty spaces. Create small stacks of crackers and fan out baguette slices along one edge. Leave some crackers loose for easy grabbing.
  7. Fill any bare spots with extra nuts, dried fruit, or fresh herb sprigs (rosemary or thyme). Drizzle extra honey over brie if desired. Serve immediately or within an hour at room temperature. If making ahead, cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate, then let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Let cheeses come to room temperature for at least 30 minutes before serving for best flavor. Use honeycomb as a centerpiece for visual appeal. Balance flavors and textures: creamy, sharp, tangy, salty, sweet, and crunchy. Prep all ingredients before assembling. Don’t overthink arrangementโ€”imperfection looks natural. For vegetarian version, skip meats and double up on cheeses and fruits. For vegan version, use plant-based cheeses and replace honeycomb with agave nectar or date syrup.
