  • 1 large apple (Honeycrisp or Fuji, thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 lemon (juiced)
  • Ice cubes
  • 3 cups sparkling apple cider (chilled)
  • 1 cup ginger ale (chilled)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 large apple (Granny Smith, thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • Ice cubes
  • 3 cups apple juice (chilled)
  • 1 cup vanilla oat milk (or dairy-free milk, chilled)
  • 1 cup ginger ale (chilled)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 large apple (Gala, thinly sliced)
  • Ice cubes
  • 3 cups apple juice (chilled)
  • 1.5 cups lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7UP, chilled)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1 cup mixed berries (frozen or fresh, like raspberries and blueberries)
  • 1 large apple (Pink Lady, thinly sliced)
  • Ice cubes
  • 3 cups apple juice (chilled)
  • 1.5 cups ginger ale (chilled)
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (or mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves)
  • 1 large apple (Braeburn, thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. For the Classic Caramel Apple Sangria: Slice your apple into thin rounds or half-moons. Toss them in a small bowl with the juice of half a lemon. Set aside.
  2. Make the caramel rim (optional): Pour a little caramel sauce onto a small plate. Dip the rim of your glasses into the caramel, then twist gently to coat. Let them sit for a minute to set.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the chilled apple juice and chilled ginger ale. Stir very gently.
  4. Drizzle in the 1/4 cup of caramel sauce. Stir gently again until the caramel is mostly dissolved.
  5. Add the lemon-tossed apple slices to the pitcher. Give it one more gentle stir.
  6. Fill your caramel-rimmed glasses with ice. Pour the sangria over the ice, making sure to get some apple slices into each glass. Drizzle a tiny bit more caramel on top if desired. Serve immediately.
  7. For the Sparkling Apple Cider Version: Follow the same steps, but replace the 4 cups of apple juice with 3 cups of sparkling apple cider and 1 cup of ginger ale. Add the fresh cranberries along with the apple slices.
  8. For the Creamy Caramel Apple Sangria: In your pitcher, whisk together the cold vanilla oat milk and the caramel sauce until smooth. Then, gently stir in the apple juice and ginger ale. Add the cinnamon with the apple slices if using.
  9. For the Berry Caramel Apple Sangria: Use lemon-lime soda instead of ginger ale. If using frozen berries, add them directly to the pitcher without thawing. Muddle a few of the berries in the bottom of the pitcher before adding the liquid for a deeper berry flavor.
  10. For the ‘Pumpkin Spice’ Caramel Apple Sangria: Whisk the pumpkin pie spice into the caramel sauce before adding it to the pitcher. Add the pomegranate seeds with the apple slices. This version can also be served warm: gently heat the apple juice and caramel in a saucepan, then stir in the ginger ale just before serving.

Notes

Chill all ingredients before starting to prevent ice from melting too quickly. Stir gently to preserve fizz. Cut apples thin for best flavor and easy drinking. Toss apples in lemon juice to prevent browning. For make-ahead, mix apple juice and caramel sauce up to 24 hours in advance; add ginger ale and fruit just before serving. Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
